DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH ACTIVITY

Image
ACTIVITY ON DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH This week in 1ère we are discussing youth problems. We shall be using Direct and Indirect speech and words and expressions related to youths problems as essential knowledge. So this fun activity came to my mind. It's usually a stressing lesson for learners so after explaining the boring rules we can try it. Activity ▪︎Write 5/6 Direct  and Indirect speech  sentences each on small pieces of papers. ▪︎ Fold the 10/12 and put in a boll. ▪︎ Give a boll and a file on which is has been written Direct Speech on one side and  Indirect Speech on the other to each group of learners in class. Instruction ▪︎Each group should unfold the pieces of papers read the sentence and place it under Direct or Indirect Speech column. ▪︎ After that they should now transform all sentences of DS to IS and vice versa. ▪︎Correct the sentences at the end  with the students, emphasizing on mistakes. I hope it helps!🙃

INTRODUCING ESSAY WRITING

Image
I created this series of image prompts to help my 4eme students to start learning how to write a story in chronological order.I have noticed that essay writing proper begins in 4eme but the students are not well equiped with a good order of ideas.Moreso in this level the scheme already expects them to develop ideas on each subtheme of the modules and we teachers may rush into that without making sure that the learners can identify the various parts of an essay and can orderly present ideas. This week.I shall be working on the Situation : *Conflict resolution* .So i decided to coin in something under writing that will feed the needs of my learners at the moment without necessarily neglecting the scheme/curriculum.So the lesson shall go thus: *Lesson 1* ▪️ _RLS: Participating in conflict resolution_ ▪️ _Objective:Learners ahould be able to use reciprocal pronouns to suggest two ways to resolve a conflict between friends._ ▪️ _Category of action: Speaking_ ▪️ _Essential knowledge; -R...

DATA COLLECTION TOOLS

Image
Before I tell you which data collection tools I will use, please get informed on what data collection is in this extract of an article I found online. The link to the complete article is copied below . What is Data Collection: A Definition Before we define what is data collection, it’s essential to ask the question, “What is data?” The abridged answer is, data is various kinds of information formatted in a particular way. Therefore, data collection is the process of gathering, measuring, and analyzing accurate data from a variety of relevant sources to find answers to research problems, answer questions, evaluate outcomes, and forecast trends and probabilities. During data collection, the researchers mustl identify the data types, the sources of data, and what methods are being used. We will soon see that there are many different data collection methods. There is heavy reliance on data collection in research, commercial, and government fields. Before an analyst begins collecting d...

REEARCH QUESTION

Image
Like I confessed in the previous blog,Unfortunately, teaching listening has always been a mystery to me.I hardly ever go beyond reading a listening comprehension text and the whole exercise is very boring because the learners constantly complain of not understanding the words and most of the time the whole text.My research shall focus on which method to use in order for learners to gain more interest in listening activities. Thus the research question; Which strategies can I use to motivate learners during a listening comprehension activity?

TEACHING CHALLENGES

Image
I have been teaching English for over 15 years now.Under normal circumstances, i should have been versed with classroom challenges by now but that isn't completely the case.I still have a number of setbacks as a teacher and I wish to overcome as many of them as I can.I know that my adventure in classroom research is going to help me confront most of these challenging teaching practices in due time. MY GREATEST CHALLENGE  As a well trained teacher I should consider all the four skills in my lesson planning and teaching.Unfortunately, teaching listening has always been a mystery to me.I hardly ever go beyond reading a listening comprehension text and the whole exercise is very boring because the learners constantly complain of not understanding the words and most of the time the whole text.I wonder how to tackle this.
